Leggybones Physical Theater
Leggybones is a multidisciplinary performance and production company founded by Jacob Michael Warren and Casey Bronwyn Howes. Its mission is to tell stories, challenge gravity and explore the vast chaotic landscape of creative possibility. It seeks to unearth narratives with inescapably relatable themes — stories of loss, joy, bravery and resilience that resonate with audiences across all political, geographical and cultural divides. Wielding its unique brand of physics-bending acrobatic partnering and wild, untamed imagination, the body is the primary storyteller, proving that the most profound human experiences are those we feel in our bones.
Casey Bronwyn Howes (she/her)
Born into a family of surf-bums, Howes forsook her freckle-filled destiny to study in a damp dark studio void of time and sunshine. After receiving her BFA from SUNY Purchase, she joined Pilobolus Dance Theater where she developed repertoire, learned the art of shadow and expanded her definition of dance. She maintains a platform-agnostic approach to choreography, tailoring movement for everything from immersive stages to global brand campaigns. Howes is one-half of Leggybones Physical Theater, an acrobatic dance company she started in 2020 with her partner who shall not be named because this is her bio. Whether she’s surfing, juggling or rock climbing, Howes is a dedicated storyteller and her passion lies in character creation and exploration.Jacob Michael Warren
Standing at 6 feet 7 inches, Jacob Michael Warren excels at seeing over people’s heads in crowds and struggles in economy class on airplanes. He grew up playing soccer and saxophone but spent most of his time trying to be a ninja and really hasn’t let go of any of those influences. He is one-half of Leggybones Physical Theater, one-sixth of the Harmonica Lewinskies and one whole gentle giant, despite playing hulking, violent villains on TV the majority of the time. When he’s not teaching, choreographing or performing, he’s probably shoveling noodles into his mouth or trying to prove that gravity is a myth and youth is a lifestyle choice.
