#FIDanceFriday | Garen Scribner channeled the flow #FIDanceFriday | Garen Scribner channeled the flowing and unpredictable nature of his lush Fire Island surroundings in the 2019 premiere of "Sand," choreographed by Tony and Olivier Award–winning choreographer Christopher Wheeldon.

Christopher returns to Fire Island Dance Festival this summer to present his acclaimed pas de deux "This Bitter Earth."

#FIDanceFriday | Today, we're throwing it back to #FIDanceFriday | Today, we're throwing it back to 2019 when Christopher D’Ariano (@chrisdariano) and Lucien Postlewaite (@lucienpost) – both from @pacificnorthwestballet – shared the world premiere of @garrettsmithchoreography's "Continuum."

This year, Christopher returns to perform @wheeldony's acclaimed pas de deux "This Bitter Earth" alongside nonbinary dancer @ashtonedwards14.

The pop-up – in celebration of #FIDance's 30th anniversary – will take place as ferries arrive and leave between 4 pm and 8 pm in the heart of Fire Island Pines harbor.

#FIDanceFriday | Acclaimed contemporary choreograp #FIDanceFriday | Acclaimed contemporary choreographer @akirauchida last summer explored the intrinsic connection between music and feeling deeply alive in the world premiere of "Throb."

A spirited ensemble – Lavy Cavaliere, DaMond LeMonte Garner, Kristalyn Gill, Ashley Green, Gabe Katz, Andrew Mulet, Daniel Santiago, Keanu Uchida and Lucy Vallely – brought the piece to life with innovative tableaus.

#FIDanceFriday | The bounds of ballet expanded on #FIDanceFriday | The bounds of ballet expanded on the Fire Island stage last summer in the world premiere of buzzworthy choreographer Keerati Jinakunwiphat’s (@thekeeratikid) "Interstate."

What began as a traditional balletic trio by Mario Gonzalez, Chalvar Monteiro (@chlvrmntro) and Amanda Smith (@theamandasmithh) transformed into a genre-defying exploration of the different pathways to freedom, set to music by Led Zeppelin.

#FIDanceFriday | Last summer, lauded New York City #FIDanceFriday | Last summer, lauded New York City Ballet principal @gilbertboldeniii shared the world premiere of his "Refraction," a celebration of the versatility and complexity of dancers.

Bolden was joined by @nycballet’s India Bradley (@indiabradleyy), Jules Mabie (@julesmabie) and Mira Nadon (@mira_nadon) – the first Asian American principal dancer in the company’s history – in an expansive and elegantly energetic ballet.

As we gear up for our 30th anniversary of #FIDance As we gear up for our 30th anniversary of #FIDance, we'd like to extend a special shout-out to Founding Director Emeritus @hernandocortezjr.

Hernando and Denise Roberts Hurlin – then students at @purchasedance and members of @paultaylordance – mobilized a group of dancers in 1991 to create Dancers Responding to AIDS.

Fire Island Dance Festival was Hernando's idea. He had a share in the Pines and thought it would be a great place for a fundraiser. He was right!
