Job Opportunity: Development Officer

Dancers Responding to AIDS, a program of Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, seeks a dynamic and experienced fundraiser to help grow and steward relationships with donors supporting signature events and a portfolio of major gifts for both DRA and Broadway Cares. The development officer reports to the DRA founding director and works closely with Broadway Cares’ deputy director of development and the major gifts team.
 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead the fundraising strategy and growth for DRA events
  • Manage, engage and cultivate an individual giving and major gifts portfolio of 300 donors and prospects
  • Coordinate donor stewardship events
  • Engage donors in a variety of settings which may include attending non-DRA events, meetings and performances
  • Oversee acknowledgements and listings for online and print publications
  • Coordinate event invitation mailings and RSVPs
  • Oversee database management for donor portfolio and prospects
  • Recruit and manage event committees
  • Strategize and facilitate ticketing, seating and email outreach with ticketing manager
  • Participate with full staff in facilitating Broadway Cares’ fundraising appeals for two six-week periods on Broadway, which take place in the evenings and on weekends
  • Be available to participate in person in numerous evening and weekend events and meetings

 

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of fundraising experience
  • Commitment to the mission of Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully maintain and utilize database systems and proficiency in Google Drive and Microsoft Office
  • Comfortable soliciting gifts of $1,000+
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills
  • Extraordinary organizational skills and attention to detail with effective follow-through
  • Personal drive and initiative
  • Grant-writing experience helpful but not required
  • Willingness to assist, support and do whatever needs to be done at events and in the work environment
  • An appreciation of the performing arts
  • An affection for dogs

Compensation/benefits

  • Salary $60,000-$65,000
