Broadway Bares’ Jonathan Lee made his #HVDance debut last year with the world premiere of his pop/hip-hop piece Before the Fall. This summer, he premieres a western-tinged upbeat number at the Fire Island Dance Festival.

#FIDance will make its annual return July 14-16 with world-class dance at the fore and the free-flowing waters of the Great South Bay as its picturesque backdrop.

Fire Island Dance Festival has always been enhanced by the captivating beauty of the shore, like when American Ballet Theatre principal @calvinroyaliii and Princess Grace award receipent @tamishaguy shared a passionate and intentional duet set to D’Angelo’s “Really Love.”

At last year’s #FIDance, festival favorite Caleb Teicher and Abdiel created and staged the first-ever nonbinary duet. In costumes by designer Eric Winterling, Lindy-Hopper Teicher and “Hustle Evangelist” Abdiel thrilled the audience with a social hustle number that amplified its gender-expansive disco roots.🎵🌟

Choreographer Paul McGill has created several high-energy ensemble numbers, including this performance for Dance Lab New York. At this year’s Fire Island Dance Festival, he debuts a new, ethereal ensemble number set to Claude Debussy’s “Sunken Cathedral” and featuring So You Think You Can Dance winner Gaby Diaz and former San Francisco Ballet principal Benjamin Freemantle.

Syrian-Dutch ballet dancer and humanitarian Ahmad Joudeh has spoken and performed at venues from LA to Algeria, bringing his compelling story as a stateless refugee and dancer to audiences all over the world. At this year’s Fire Island Dance Festival Joudeh presents “Layl (Night),” an emotionally gripping performance inspired by his experiences.

#FIDance is returning! At the 2019 edition, Al Blackstone premiered his “Weekend ‘76,” a celebration of Fire Island Pines as an inclusive, euphoric enclave for the LGBTQ+ community set to disco hits. 🕺💃

#FIDance 2022 featured a touching tribute by @buglisidance originally created to honor the lives lost during 9/11. Restaged by choreographer Jacqulyn Buglisi to embrace those suffering from the COVID-19 pandemic and other world crises, the excerpt from “”Requiem”” featured five ethereal dancers performing partly on pedestals that elevated the luminous, statuesque nature of the number.🌬🕊
